There are a lot of things we wish you knew about the library. THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE THING PEOPLE DON’T KNOW…You can return or pick up CADL items at ANY CADL branch. Spread the word! It doesn’t matter where they are from or where you checked them out! We often have people who have made a special trip to a particular branch because the item is from that branch. Just go to the CADL location most convenient for you. You can use the drop boxes for everything EXCEPT THE LIBRARY OF THINGS. (Please return LoT items to staffed circulation station.)
You can try before you buy. With our trial card, you can download and stream from our online services, use our online Research Tools, and place up to 3 holds on items in the library. In many cases you actually don’t have to “buy.” Full access cards are free to residents of our service area. Businesses and institutions are also eligible. Non-residents may purchase a full access card for an annual fee.
You can carry your card on your phone. With the CADL app, your library card is as close as your phone. Search the catalog, place holds, and more!
Digital items have no fines and sometimes no waiting. Woot woot! You can get books, magazines, audiobooks, movies and music. hoopla and RBDigital also have no waiting, items are instantly available.
Your 24 hour tutor Lynda awaits you. Want to learn Microsoft Word Sunday night at 10:00 pm? Lynda is ready. This resource has video tutorials on everything from Microsoft Office to photography, communication, leadership, management and much more.
Local History is adding exciting things to their online collection all of the time. You can see thousands of historical photos and documents. Two new and exciting collections are the City of Lansing Assessor Photographs and online yearbooks from area schools. With the assessor photographs you can see photos of Lansing houses from back in the day. Check to see if your house is there! You can step back in time and peruse your old yearbook.
This is just a small sample of what awaits you @cadl.org…
